Hôtel de Missa

– 12 rue Barbette, PARIS 3ème

The Hôtel Barbette, a property established in the thirteenth century, was bought by Isabeau of Bavaria in 1403. Here, every night, she entertained the Duke of Orleans, the King’s brother who was assassinated by John the Fearless, Duke of Burgundy. This event precipitated the Hundred Years War. Diane de Poitiers, who subsequently acquired it from her husband, Louis de Brezé, regularly received Henry II here. This small Hôtel, built during the reign of Louis XIII, was purchased in 1774 by Michel Missa, a doctor regent of the Faculty of Medicine.
